About SISSM

Summer school program

Split International Summer School of Music is composed of 10 specific academic music programs. Participants will be able to choose one main program but may participate  in other programs as observers. The programs are primarily intended for students but also the younger talented musicians. All programs have generally two kinds of goals: to provide  possibilities for the participants to improve their individual technical and interpretative level of playing instrument, and to learn about music from the results of musical analysis of selected musical pieces, i.e. transferring these conceptions to persuasive artistic interpretation.

A generally individual approach to each student (consistent with its current level of knowledge and skills) will be integrated with a framework theme or common features of the selected repertoire.

One part of the repertoire will be adapted to student’s preferences and their  level of playing and the required musical materials will be sent to all participants.

At the end of the school, students are required to perform at a concert, which is also the final exam. Students will receive a certificate of achieved 2 ECTS credits, and the younger participants will receive a certificate of participation.
