The foundation of the Arts Academy in Split in 1997 included a library specializing in the fields of music, the fine arts and the dramatic arts. The library uses it fund to keep track of the curricula of all departments of the Arts Academy. It provides access to databases, magazines, music collections and inter-library loan for students, scientific and teaching staff and external associates. In the reading room, users are allowed to use the computers, listen to audio tracks, digitize material, and produce seminar and graduate theses. The Metelwin program is used to process library materials and create an online electronic catalog.
The library fund is divided into collections: reference collection, monograph publications, periodicals, printed music, audio-visual material, and the collection of graduate and doctoral theses. The fund is enriched by exchanging publications with other related art institutions, donations or purchases, taking into account that the quality of the fund reflects the needs of the educational and research programs in its content. A significant part of the library fund consists of donations of books and noteworthy editions from the donations of: the academic Kruno Prijatelj, art historian, dr.sc. Božidar Matas, professor of art, Ranko Tudor, music educator and pianist, Silvije Bombardelli, composer and conductor, dr.sc. Mirjana and Josip Škunca, retired music professors, and dr.sc. Miljenko Grgić, musicologist.
