This year's Twelfth edition of the award-winning festival is organized by ARTEMIS Music and Art Association in cooperation with the Music Department of the Arts Academy of the University of Split and “Josip Hatze” School of Music under the patronage of the City of Split. 12th Days of Bach begin on Friday, March 22, with a traditional concert by students of the Josip Hatze School of Music and students of the Arts Academy of the University of Split, which will be held in the Jakov Gotovac Hall in the Croatian House, begining at 7:00 p.m. Upcoming concerts will be announced additionally.
The project "Bach Days in Split" is the first monographic event in Croatia dedicated to the composer's work. It was started in 2012 by Vesna Podrug and Wladimir Kossjanenko, professors of the Music Department of the Art Academy of the University of Split, and since then they have been organizing it every year on the birthday of the composer - March 21. In the following years, the number of participants constantly increased with great interest from the audience. In cooperation with prominent Croatian and international musicians, significant concert projects were realized, such as integral consecutive performances of 6 Suites for solo cello, 6 Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin, two books of Well Tempered Clavier, "The Art of Fugue", numerous compositions by J.S. Bach and Bach's contemporaries. 30 concerts and 5 lectures were held in which participated over 150 musicians of all generations from 12 countries. The European Association of Festivals EFA in Brussels awarded Bach Days as the ˝Remarkable Arts Festival of Europe 2019-2021˝.
